This is the supporting website for the book “Real Estate Analysts’ Hand Book: An Indian Perspective”. 

When I started working as an analyst, I wished there were a book on real estate analysis covering Indian real estate market. Although I graduated in civil engineering and later did post-graduation in finance, it was tough getting started as a real estate analyst.

As I moved ahead in my career in real estate finance and investment, I met many people – senior real estate investment professionals, and fresh graduates aspiring to start their career as real estate analyst. Senior professionals were too busy to train the new hires and there were no handy tool for them to quick start.   During my free time I volunteered to train fresh graduates and people who were keen to learn the tools of the trade. This is how the idea of this book was conceived.

Unlike US and other western countries, where real estate investment is part of graduate and post graduate courses , in India there is no such course offered by any recognized institution. Also most of the books currently available in the market offer little or no insight into Indian real estate market.   I tried really hard (J) to cover as much relevant topics as possible, some in more detail and others in brief.

In the last chapter of this book I have tried to cover financial modeling in excel for real estate investment. I have also provided a brief introduction on some other software available in the market.

This book is not complete, and I’m hopeful that this is just the beginning; and other senior professionals and academicians will contribute to this field of study.
